How to read Decimal, Fractional and American odds
Odds are written in three formats. All three express the same probability in different ways. The two examples below show the same bet in all three formats.
৳200 bet on Team A to win: Decimal 3.00 = Fractional 2/1 = American +200. If it wins, the return is ৳600 — that is ৳400 profit plus your ৳200 stake back. If it loses, ৳200 is gone. Decimal odds are the simplest: total return = stake × odds (৳200 × 3.00 = ৳600).
৳200 bet on Team B to win: Decimal 1.25 = Fractional 1/4 = American −400. If it wins, the return is ৳250 — only ৳50 profit. American minus odds (−400) means you need to bet ৳400 to win ৳100. The favourite has lower odds, so the profit is lower — but the market considers the chance of winning to be higher.
